Thought of the Day

I was thinking about what I could write today and was struggling because I haven't really done much, but then it came to me- i'm going to write a little bit about a passage which keeps popping into my head and when you apply it to your life it can be incredibly powerful.

The verse I am thinking of is Ephesians 4: 2b which says:
"Make allowance for each other's faults because of your love." (NLT)

It seems to me that there are so many things that people get wound up about and half of the time it is other people's faults. Myself included in that! But, if we actually took this passage and applied it to our lives how much of a difference would that make?

Firstly, we wouldn't be half as annoyed or worked up as we usually are so we would be a lot happier in general.

Secondly, through not living out this verse in our lives we are being rather hypocritical at times as I would assume that the majority of us would like other people to make allowance for our faults and get upset when they don't. Yet how can we expect others to live this verse out without us also doing so?

Thirdly, by making allowance for each other's faults through love, it doesn't mean ignoring them if someone is doing something wrong, on the contrary we should encourage each other to become better people, however it means that we do not become so upset by people's faults that it hinders our relationship with them or our relationship with God. If we are to focus too much of our attentions on a person's faults it can lead to an unhealthy attitude and a negative outlook on life.

Definitely something to think about! x
