Breakfast by the Christmas Tree

One of the things I love the most about this time of year is being able to eat my breakfast by the light of the Christmas tree! Sounds a little random I know and it doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Breakfast at Tiffany's but it's special nonetheless.

Following the theme from my last post, the decoration that caught my eye this time was one spelling out the word Hope.

It got me asking the question, what is it we hope for at Christmas time? The obvious springs to mind of hoping for presents, but there is plenty more that we hope for too...
a White Christmas, everything to be prepared on time, no arguments, a bit of rest...the list goes on!

But why is it this decoration says hope? Surely it's not to remind us of these seemingly trivial desires? If not that, then what?

Well it starts with that holy night long ago when God in human form was born into this world. That one momentous occasion brought hope into the lives of many and still does to this day. The birth of a saviour, the birth of hope. The hope that the captives can be set free. The hope that the silenced can have a voice. The hope that fears can be relieved. The hope of a fresh start, a new life. The hope of security, that there is something constant and secure in this ever changing world. Hope.

So a little Christmas challenge here, as you think about all the things you are hoping for this Christmas, remember the Hope that we have through Jesus Christ. x
